Welcome to BharatMandi (भारत मंडी). We are dedicated to providing accurate, real-time APMC Mandi rates to Indian farmers, traders, and agricultural communities while strictly respecting your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how it is used, and why our application is completely safe and privacy-friendly.
2. Information We Access and How We Use It
BharatMandi is engineered with a privacy-first, offline-first philosophy. We do not require you to create an account, log in with an email, or provide your phone number or financial information.
A. Location Data (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
- Purpose: When you press "Find Near Mandi" (पास की मंडी खोजें), your device location is checked solely to calculate geodesic distance to nearby APMC market yards and sort crops by closest proximity.
- 100% On-Device Processing: Location calculations happen strictly on your smartphone in real-time.
- Zero Server Logging: We never log, upload, track, monetize, or share your GPS coordinates with third parties or advertising networks.
- Pincode Alternative: You can choose not to enable GPS and simply enter any 6-digit Indian postal pincode to find mandis.
B. Microphone & Audio Data (RECORD_AUDIO)
- Purpose: When you tap the Microphone (बोलकर खोजें) button, the microphone is activated transiently to transcribe crop or mandi names (e.g. "गेहूं" or "लासलगाव कांदा") into search queries.
- No Audio Storage: Audio is converted to text using your device's native Speech-to-Text engine. Voice recordings are never stored, saved, or uploaded to any external servers.
C. Storage & WhatsApp Sharing
- Purpose: When you click the WhatsApp Share button on any mandi price card, the app renders a clean visual rate image and saves it temporarily in the app cache to facilitate sharing.
- No Access to Personal Photos: The app never reads your photo library, documents, contacts, or personal media.
D. Network Access & Live Mandi Rates
- Purpose: Used exclusively to download daily verified commodity prices published from government agricultural portals (Agmarknet / data.gov.in) via our public CDN.
- No tracking cookies, analytics identifiers, or device fingerprinting are used.
3. Third-Party Disclosures & Advertising
- We do not sell, rent, or trade user information to third parties.
- BharatMandi does not integrate third-party ad networks or data brokers.
4. Data Retention & User Control
All cached rates and user preferences (favorites and language selection) reside locally on your phone in an offline SQLite database. You can erase all data at any time by clearing the app data in Android Settings or uninstalling the app.
5. Children's Privacy
Our app does not target or knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age.
6. Security
All data synchronization with the rate CDN is conducted over encrypted HTTPS connections (TLS/SSL), ensuring secure transmission.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted directly to this page with an updated effective date.
